View from the huge glass window. Not impressive. The other side of the hotel faces the sea though (and they get The Star newspaper every morning!! What I get is New Straits Times...).

I only get to try it on the first night though. Worked until 9pm and 11pm on the subsequent days.

Hello from Penang!

I'm currently on a job engagement in Penang.

It's quite a big and rich client hence each of us get ONE suite by ourselves!! The suite is actually spacious enough for at least 2.

It consists of 2 bathrooms (with one JACUZZI!!!!!), FREE BROADBAND (WOOHOO!), 2 tvs, 1 living room, 1 bedroom and 1 work desk. It even comes with a weighing scale in the closet!

Damn nice...

Makes me want to stay in the suite only...

Will upload photos when I'm back to KL!

I'm so going to try the jacuzzi tonight :P

So I spring cleaned my room.

Starting from the closet.

I managed to get rid of 4 bags full of clothes!

LoL..yeah I DID have a lot of clothes.

95% of them were bought during my secondary school days and early college days..when I have ZERO sense of fashion lol.

Not saying that I dress very well now, but I found my style at least.

The same goes to make up.

While going through the closet, I noticed that 80% of my working clothes are black/white/grey... very very dull!!

Which means....

IT'S TIME TO SHOOOOOP! XD

Must ban myself from buying anymore dark colours though.

Oh yeah...I did get rid of some cosmetics, skin care and hair products, too!

So now..I HAVE MORE ROOM FOR NEW STUFF!!

I traveled to Australia during the first 2 weeks of September!!!

Yeah yeah I know...old news...most of you should have already seen the photos on my Facebook. I'm still blogging this for the sake of blogging =p

I'm actually not very inspired to write today. It's already 2.43am!! I'm here just because I'm waiting for Chuen's farewell photos to be finish uploaded in Facebook.

Having spent 11 days in Melbourne and 3 days in Sydney, I would conclude that Australia is not a place for me to live.....for now at least LOL. However, it is a place where I would like to spend a month or two every year, for a long vacation. It's VERY laid back. So relax until...I don't know what to do! Makes me lazy, less motivated to work. BUT BUT BUT, I will not guarantee that I will not think otherwise in the future, especially when I have kids and family, when I need time for my home, when I need to settle down. For now, I am still very ambitious and motivated to climb the corporate ladder.

So anyway, I shall share with you a few of my favourite photos, things, animals, food and people *wink wink* from Aussie.

Had dinner with some female colleagues last Friday night.

We all came out with the same conclusion:

MALE seniors are more willing to teach FEMALE assistants. They are also very much LESS willing to teach MALE juniors (well, unless they are good friends).

It's weird that guys are expected to be more independent lol.

Even thought everyone's saying 男女平等, some mindsets just cannot be changed so easily.

Like, men are suppose to open doors for ladies.

Men should not allow ladies to carry heavy stuff. (learned it from a manager lol, when he saw me carrying many many files in my 2 tiny arms)

Men are suppose to drive. (even though we girls have cars)

I am lazy to think of others, wanna watch Slumdog Millionaire now (yes I have yet to watch that.....), a little lazy at the same time, it's already 2am *yawn*.

Shall see my mood in 5 minutes.

Job Offer

Got a job offer from my previous employer today.

To maintain their accounts.

Basically just to continue what I was doing previously.

We had a reeeaaally loooooong chat, from 3.30pm to almost 8pm!!!!

Yes I have a chatty boss =.="

He does talk a LOT.

In the end they(with his wife) had to leave cuz he was having a bad migraine (from talking too much?).

They did not leave me with their offer yet they asked me how much I would like to charge them!!

Wth, I don't know the market rate lah!

So I gave a deep thought in it.

From what they described to me, I guess the workload won't be too much or too complicated to handle (with a few exceptions). I can probably take one or max two days a month to do it.

I almost wanted to say yes to them.

But I started asking myself;

Does the money worth my precious time-off?

I had to leave home at 8am everyday, face the morning rush hour, WORK, quick lunch, WORK, leave work at 8pm-10.30pm-ish, have dinner at 9pm-11.30pm-ish (turning into a fat lady soon), sleep, wake up 7am....OMG so routined, so lack-of-personal-time, so robotic.

What to do, I have sold my soul to the Company for 4 years.

I would love to help them as a friend, but on the other hand, I really treasure my weekends ever since I started working full-time.

OK, me have made me decision.

Will reject them by sms tomorrow lol.

Having worked long hours for a few weeks, I finally get to breath since Thursday.

I LEFT THE OFFICE AT 5.30pm on THURSDAY!

Yes, we get to go back at 5.30pm sharp too XD

But you know what, we had lunch at almost 4pm that day.

Why?

Rushed to submit some files to be QPR-ed.

We are the 'lucky' ones whose files are chosen to be examined by partners from other branches.

Sigh.

Glad it's over.

Now I'm only left with some wrapping up to do.

My target for this coming week is to go back at 5.30pm everyday!!

LOL.

Erm..probably not everyday.

Everytime I plan to go back early, something surely comes up to disrupt my beautiful plan.

I've been ~~wanting~~ needing a haircut since March.

And today, I cannot 'tahan' anymore.

My hair was too flat, sticking out at all directions, shapeless, 'layer-less', ugly yellowish dry ends (thanks to the excessive colouring years ago..oklah, not-so-excessive..)

I like my job

I often get asked how is my work.

People usually expect the answer to be:

"SUCKY"

But no! It's no where near what I think.

I actually quite like this job, thanks to the bunch of great people in my company!

Of course, a lot of them are not shown in the photos..

For instance, my current and previous team members.

These are the people that makes all the long working hours bearable.

Love them lots!

There is nothing more unattractive than a person who is constantly complaining and whining about their "flaws". It's just plain annoying.

I have monolids (no crease), so I hope these makeup videos are beneficial, especially to creaseless people out there who need ideas on how to do eye makeup. My mother has had eyelid surgery. She's even bought me eyelid tape when I was younger and I was socially constructed to believe that my eyes were undesirable. There was a point when I hated my eyes the most and even planned to save up money and planned a time to have the surgery and heal without people seeing me. It's sad when I think about it. I was in denial and didn't think of it as a big deal, but in reality, there are huge underlying issues that people don't want to think about and accept. I strongly do not support eyelid tape, glue, or surgery. Specific requests on how to achieve larger eyes, which happen to always come from Asians, annoy and frustrate me. Embrace your ethnic features and get over chasing the superficial "standard" of beauty. It's not about having or not having a crease per se. It's the overall desire to have larger eyes, which most Asians just don't have regardless of the presence or absence of a crease.

It's frustrating when people brush off the fact that so much of our thinking stems from the unconscious. So many people will say "so what?". "It JUST looks prettier". But WHY do some people think it's prettier. Is it "just because" or "that's just how it is"?

There's a "White doll, Black doll" study conducted by Dr. Kenneth Clark in the 1940's. Most black children chose the white doll when asked which one was prettier, nicer, etc. When the experiment is conducted again today, similar results. It just shows that we start to internalize stereotypes and beauty "standards" at a very young age. I'm sure it's carried on to adulthood, which is why we're here now. I feel that the first step is to acknowledge where a lot of our thinking is derived from and to prevent ourselves from developing careless thoughts in the future.

I hear many women who have had or want to have the surgery claim that their reasoning is because they can't apply makeup without a crease or a larger one. This is the reason why I'm here. I want to prove that with these eyes, I CAN wear makeup. Have the procedure if you want, but I don't want to hear that excuse anymore.

It is possible to wear eye makeup without having a crease. It should not be viewed as a burden or pain. Application is just different and you're just going to have to experiment and practice with what works and what doesn't with your eye shape and features, because it's out there. Trying just a few times with makeup probably isn't going to cut it for anybody starting out with makeup, let alone personalizing to your features.

I think it's flat out LAZY to opt for eyelid glue, tape, or surgery rather than taking the time to experiment with what works.

Many women of colour often have difficulty finding makeup that matches their skin tone due to mainstream cosmetic manufacturers not making suitable deeper shades. There are brands out there that do cater to women of deeper skin tone, they just take a little more effort to be found. In that case should the women just give up and lighten their skin rather than take the time to find products that work for them?

Women of more mature skin sometime can not use products like eyeshadow and foundation with lots of mica because it magnifies the lines. It just takes different application and products to suit the skin. Should the solution be to have a brow lift and face lift instead?

They say makeup should enhance one's natural features. In that case, everyone's natural features vary, therefore application will vary. It just takes time and effort to learn. Makeup should fit the individual; one should not "fix" themselves to fit the makeup... or more specifically the beauty standards set by society. Whatever people are willing to admit to...

I'm going to stand by myself, who I am, and refuse to conform. If people aren't willing to accept the way I look then those people don't matter.

Please don't try to insult my intelligence based on the sole fact that I like to paint my face. No, I am not insecure about my physical appearance. I do not RELY on makeup. I am content with the way I look and makeup is what I do for recreation. I know I don't NEED makeup. I just CHOOSE to use it. Not that hard of a concept to grasp. Thanks for for your... concern.

Some people like to assume that any one who wears makeup is insecure. I actually think anyone who is brave enough to rock bold and dramatic makeup must be confident with themselves considering they will be seen as "abnormal" by some.

I put on makeup not because I feel insecure of how I look.

I love my natural look.

It's just that, at work, I want to be seen as someone who cares of herself, as well as what others think of me.

A clean, polished look always give a more professional feel than an unkempt look, right?

Ok, maybe not unkempt, but a tired look?

Some may see 'tired' look as a indication that one has been working his or her ass off.

Are you very sure that WORK caused that tired look?

It may be because he or she has been facing relationship problem?issues within the family? insomnia?

Alright, IF, it IS because of work, have you ever thought that it may be because he or she takes a little more time to complete the same amount of work that others have?

Yes, it's efficiency we're talking about.

Let's say the person is efficient, he or she may be slowed down by other factors like, late feedback from management/client/assistants...etc etc.

Errr...I went a little off track..anyway..

When I am out of office, I represent my company, a professional accounting firm. It's a respect to myself, my company, and to my client that I present myself with a professional look, right?

No one wakes up looking like Cindy Crawford ;)

With minimal makeup, we can at least look fresh, energetic, and ready to work!

Ok I went a little nuts for Stila's clearance sales.....

But hey, I must reward myself a bit for working so hard, right? Right?? RIGHT?!

I worked this Saturday and Sunday ok!

Well, initially, I did not plan to buy this much.

But thanks to my dear dear colleague, who kept reminding me the "S" counter in Parkson KLCC... (she's so evil!! She didn't even buy anything! not her area of interest apparently)

Anyway...I ended up visiting the counter for 4 consecutive days...

Had an effective shopping therapy hahaha!

No wonder I have wonderful mood these days :)

At least for me, it's a lot...for my wallet T-T

Due to the nature of my job, I have to interact a lot with clients.

I may have only been worked for 7 weeks, but I have met a lot of different clients.

Some are patient.

Some are moody.

Some are lazy.

Some are really helpful.

Some are intimidating.

Some are too smart.

Some are too stupid. (have yet to meet one though..lol..I know I will...but I still hope I won't)

The worse thing is, some have bad breath =.=

Pleeeease oh please, take a mint candy or something...

It's not like I can stand far far away and shout to him or her.

It's an office! We have to keep our voices low.

Hence, our distance is near enough to smell it...

I tried not to breathe too often... -___-"

And...I tried to get the info that I need fast...to end the conversation asap.

No borak-borak.

Which is why...I ALWAYS keep a box of mint in my handbag. (ever since I started this job)

Besides keeping my breathe fresh after lunch (depending on what I eat..), it also wakes me up at times when I'm sleepy.

And fyi, I DON'T LIKE MINTS!

Maybe next time I'll get one that is flavoured.

Stressful Friday

1. Work Stress

Friday was my last day at this client's place, hence I MUST finish all the fieldwork on that day. But, dear clients did not give me all the documents that I need. They were annoyed and busy, so do I. I, too, have a deadline to meet! Had to go through piles of files myself -_- What to do..

2. Personal stress

I went to Isetan sale after work, since I was already in KLCC ;) Didn't get to buy the Bobbi Brown set that I wanted because it's all SOLD OUT. Wth. The sales girls must have saved the sets for their own friends. I was thinking of pampering myself with a gift using my first paycheck! Didn't see any other things that I like. Wasted my time in Isetan. Shall save the money for a new phone then..my phone is already 4 years old, spoilt at the back summore.

3. Family stress

Scolded by my dad on some personal safety issue. I really didn't need to hear those after a long tiring day. Have heard enough all these years. And oh, was nagged by mom regarding the way I plan to spend my first paycheck too. Great.

4. Other stress

My cousin's maid (who comes once a week) threw my new black Dior box away!!! I was damn pissed. I like to put my beloved stuff back into their box because I don't use them everyday and I want to protect it. Yes I'm weird like that. That morning, the box was left on my dressing table after using it, I think I forgot to put the mini dior bag back into the box (was rushing). I coudn't find it after I came back from work :(

My big brother borrowed my Canon camera and did not tell me. Made me worried sick. Even after I knew he took it, I still felt a sense of insecurity. Maybe because I don't trust him lol. Or maybe I love it too much!

Haih, even my paycheck can't cheer me up.

She's SO SWEET that she also gave me a mascara~~~!!

It is like a dupe of Tsuya-Tsuya's and Fiberwig! It consists of 2 tubes, meant to be used together. 1 big tube of fibre-gel mascara (for length) like Fiberwig's, another one is a smaller tube of powdery/feathery fibre mascara (for volume) like Tsuya-Tsuya's. Yes I permed my lashes on Christmas Day itself :)

Mine did not last long though, only about a month or lesser, as my lashes itself is super straight and thick. I think it might last longer on fine lashes. I did not have to use eyelash curler during my HK trip xD and THAT saves time xD
